Harriet Juvilia Sanden, 89, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and longtime resident of rural Wyndmere, North Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Harriet Juvilia Jacobson was born in Kindred, ND, on September 1, 1918, to Henry Sigvard Jacobson and Olga Bentina (Helgeson) Jacobson. She graduated from Walcott High School in 1936, and with the class of 1940, from St Luke’s Nursing School in Fargo, ND. She married Orvin Sanden on May 25, 1943, at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Harriet worked as a registered nurse in Fergus Falls, MN, Fargo, ND, and in Louisiana while Orvin served in the U. S. Army, during World War II. They later moved to rural Wyndmere, ND, where they farmed and operated a construction business. There, Harriet raised a family, ran the household, gardened and was the Senior bookkeeper for the business activities. Her sisters, Doris and Edris; her parents; and her husband of 59 years, Orvin Gerhard Edwin Sanden, preceded her in death. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare and Hospice of the Red River Valley. They are a special group of professionals who cared for Harriet. Memorials may be directed to the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare or the Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Service: Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, at 215 7th Street South, Fargo. Visitation: will be one hour prior to the service.
