Harold Sorvaag

Harold A. Sorvaag, 87, died February 24, 2009, at Meritcare Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, N.D., surrounded by his family. Harold was born July 12, 1921, in Argusville, ND to Nils and Anna Sorvaag. He grew up on the family farm, attended Berlin Township School, and spent the rest of his life farming in the Argusville area. On November, 25, 1950, he married Mary (Angie) Walkinshaw and they made a home on their farm at Argusville. He was a long time member of Osterdalen Lutheran Church, Harwood, ND and served on the church council till its close. He spent his later years as a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Harold attended Reisch Auction School, Mason City, Iowa in March 1959 and spent the next 37 years doing hundreds of auction sales through out the Eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota. He was a member of the Argusville School Board and Argusville City Council for many years. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family, visiting their lake home on Tamarac Lake, traveling to Arizona, and working and mowing his farmstead in later years. Harold is survived by his son, Charles (Susan) Sorvaag, Argusville; daughter, Laurie (Hans) Wallin, Argusville; son Ronald (Carla) Sorvaag, Fargo; sister, Esther Griesbach, Fargo; sister, Olive Kolsrud, Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Everett (Irene) Walkinshaw, Argusville; sister-in-law, Mildred Walkinshaw, Fargo; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Angela Sorvaag, his parents, Nils and Anna Sorvaag, brother Sigurd Sorvaag, brother Olaf Sorvaag, brother-in-law, Warren Walkinshaw, brother-in-law, Bob Griesbach, brother-in-law, Mort Kolsrud. Visitation: Friday, Feb. 27, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., with Prayer Service Following at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, 309 4th St N, Fargo. Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 28, 1:00 p.m. at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo. Burial: Osterdalen Cemetery, Harwood, N.D.
