Harold Olsen, 87, of Fargo, North Dakota died on Sunday, March 6, under the gentle care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Villa Maria.
Harold was born on March 27, 1928 in Beach, North Dakota. His father was Henry Andrew Olsen, and his mother was Clara Olsen (Carmichael). He was baptized at the Evangelical Brethren Church, in Beach, North Dakota. He attended school in Beach and worked on the family farm by Alpha, North Dakota. After his father’s death he took over the running of the farm.
In 1957 he moved to Fargo and worked at Surplus Tractor as a welder. In Fargo he met the love of his life, June Simpson. Last September 1, Harold and June celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary. They were married on September 1, 1962 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. They were blessed with two sons.
Harold started working at the Fargo Post Office in 1967 and retired in 1994.
Harold enjoyed photography, gardening, metal detecting, fishing, and hunting with his sons in Western North Dakota. He loved his four dogs, Sami, Sophia, Shelby and Chewie.
Harold enjoyed making many trips to Wisconsin and California visiting his sons and helping them with their building projects.
Harold was a kind and generous man. He always put his wife and children first. He loved God and his family. His gentle soul will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, June Olsen of Fargo; son, Scott Olsen and his wife Ann Olsen of Glendale, Wisconsin; and son, Todd David Olsen of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Harold is also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica and Joey Olsen.
