Harlan D. Pratt, age 80, of West Fargo, ND died peacefully surrounded by family at Sanford Medical Center July 24th, 2019.
Harlan was born in Cooperstown and raised on the family farm before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. This is where he was introduced to computers and was on the ground floor of this new technology. This became his occupation throughout his working career. He considered himself as one of the first computer nerds, but still maintained a corny sense of humor.
He met Carol Saele in Valley City while she was in nursing school. They were later married in Munich. Together they raised 2 children, Robert and Maria. Their marriage ended in divorce.
In March of 1984 Harlan met Kathleen Schwartz and they were married in June of that same year.
Together they traveled, went camping, and did a lot of fishing. The Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge were also a large part of their marriage, where they made lots of friends along the way.
Harlan served as the past Grand Patron of Eastern Star. He also served as the Past Grand Organist and the Past Master of East Gate Lodge.
Harlan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy, son, Robert Pratt; daughter, Maria (Mike) Rohde; two step children, Beth and Lewis Schwartz; sister, Roberta (Martin) Kloster; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
