Hallie Mae Anderson

December 20, 1934 — December 31, 2018

Hallie Mae (Vik) Anderson was born to Reuben G. and Hallie H. (Sharkey) Vik on December 20, 1934 at Clarkfield, MN. She passed from this earth into the arms of her Lord on December 31, 2018 at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. She was 84 years young.

Hallie was baptized and confirmed by Pastor Akre at Clarkfield Lutheran Church in Clarkfield, MN. She grew up in rural Yellow Medicine County and received her first four years of education in a one room country school. She graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1952 where she was active in band, chorus and the school paper. Upon graduation, she attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD and taught in the Slayton, MN school system for three years.

On August 24, 1957 she married Ron Anderson and they moved to Fargo, ND where she was employed by Lincoln Mutual Insurance Co. and Elim Lutheran Church. When their children arrived, she was a stay-at-home mom.

In 1968, the family moved to Pullman, WA where Ron went back to school. they had three children under six. Hallie also baby-sat for other families along with being active in the University Dames Organization. She received her PHT (Putting Hubby Through) Degree from Washington State University.

Returning to Fargo, she was active as a 4-H Club Leader and a Cub Scout Leader. Hallie also returned to Elim Lutheran Church as secretary and she considered members of Elim her special family and served them for over 24 years. Hallie sang in the Elim choir for 58 years and was active in women's groups and bible studies. She was a member and volunteer at both the Sons of Norway and the Swedish Cultural Society. Hallie loved her wonderful caring neighbors. And surprisingly, this Irish-Norwegian lady loved to eat out at Mexican Village.

Hallie and Ron were married for 61 years. She is survived by her husband; children, Paul (Kate), Whitefish, MT, Beth, Moorhead, MN and Mark (Amie), Almont, CO; four grandchildren; Milissa Melle (Christian) Williams, Brianna Melle (Kyle) Heydenburg, Jett Wolf and Finn Anderson. She is survived by two sisters: Darlene (Dave) Shaw, Cresco, IA, Wilma Barnett, Cerritos, CA and sister-in-law, Yvonne Vik, Albany, MN. Also surviving is Ron's immediate family: Dale (Liz) Anderson, Carroll (Don) Albertson, Beverly Heemstra, Glenn and Charles Anderson and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hallie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sonja Kemen, brother, Darrell Vik, grandson, Adam Melle, and brothers-in-law, Rod Heemstra, Linnae "Bucky" Berg and Clarence Barnett.

She preferred memorials be given to the Elim Lutheran Church Foundation or an entity of your choice.

Burial will be at a later date at the Clarkfield Cemetery that's located directly across a country road from the two farms where Hallie and Ron were raised. Blessed be her memory.
