Gwen Thayer, 82, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Gwen Glee Thayer was born September 17, 1934 to Lester and Opal (Bucham) Thayer in Breckenridge, MN. She received a Bachelors Degree from Minnesota State and taught elementary school in a variety of schools in the area.
Gwen was a devoted animal lover with a special place in her heart for dogs. After retiring, she fostered and helped care for dogs for Adopt-a-pet. She was so patient and attentive to their needs. For the past year she has faced devastating odds with a smile and her marvelous sense of humor - she had such grace.
She fought to keep her independence until the end and worried about what everyone would do and concerned how she would be able to entertain them. Death may have taken her from us, but Gwen’s memories will live forever in our hearts.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Opal.
In accordance with Gwen’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
Memorials are preferred to Adopt-a-Pet in Gwen’s memory.
