Gwen Marie McIntyre lived life to the fullest. Sadly, she passed away unexpectedly Sunday September 24, 2017 in her home. We are heartbroken.
Gwen was born September 27, 1946 in Warren, MN to Donna (Askegard) and “Frenchy” Charboneau. She was the oldest of five siblings. After graduation, Gwen went to the University of Minnesota for Dental Assisting and eventually settled in Fargo, ND.
In Fargo, she met and married Dennis McIntyre and raised two wonderful daughters, Nicolle and Emily. They shared many beautiful years together in Prairie Rose, where she was honored to be the Mayor. Gwen has always led an extremely fun and adventurous life surrounded by her most cherished friends…she enjoyed playing Mahj Jong with a fantastic group of ladies that has evolved over the years. Her other activities included Bunco, PEO, volunteering at church, Red Hat Club, and the Girls of ’64, just to name a few. She was always so excited to travel and get together with her many friends.
Gwen worked almost 20 years at Dr. Brown’s dental office and later switched careers to public housing. She managed the Fargo High Rise and touched many lives in the community on a daily basis with her compassion and professionalism. After retiring, she worked part time at Scheels, and for the past two years, she has enjoyed working with Cass County Housing in West Fargo.
Over ten years ago, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Stephen Kotts. Stephen lived in the Seattle area; they traveled back and forth visiting, taking trips in the US, as well as venturing to Ireland together. Sadly, Stephen preceded her in death this past December.
Gwen’s primary passion in life was her two daughters, whom she spoke with daily (or more) and her three beautiful grandchildren that will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents and Stephen. She is survived by her four siblings, Darrell (Lois), Debra, Scott, and Jodi; her two daughters, Nicolle (Paul) and Emily (Ed); grandchildren, Alyssa, Megan and Zachary and new step-grandchildren, Madalyn and Denali.
Gwen’s life should be celebrated … please raise a glass in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation in her name to the Churches United for the Homeless, 1901 1st Ave N, Moorhead, MN 56560,
