Gus Sagert, 83, of Fargo, (formerly of Langdon, ND) died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Sanford Health, Fargo. Gus Sagert was born on October 6, 1928 to August and Lena Sagert (Stegman) on a farm located near Backoo, ND. Formal education was in a country school. He spent one winter assembling fighter planes in California prior to the army in 1951. While home on leave later that year, he married Marion Burke of Cavalier on January 2, 1952. He was assigned to Hokkaido, Japan during which time his only daughter, Polly, was born. While working as a car mechanic in Cavalier and Neche he learned the wheel alignment trade. In 1963, he moved to Langdon to operate the Standard Oil station. In 1972, he started his own business called Gus’s Alignment which he operated until he retired. Other enjoyments included fishing, hunting and driving or walking through the Pembina hills. Gus and Marion moved to Fargo in 2008 and lived at Riverview Place. Gus was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry and Rudolph; sisters, Tillie, Hilda, Margaret, and Julia. He is survived by his wife, Marion of Fargo; daughter, Polly (Carl) Wendelbo of Fargo; grandson, Cody (Susan) Wendelbo of Fargo; great grandsons, Carter and Dylan of Fargo; and a sister, Annie Shannon of Mountain, ND. Funeral Service: Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Riverview Place Chapel, Fargo. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Riverview. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
