Gregory James Wentz Greg died on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Greg, beloved son of Douglas and Phyllis Wentz, was born on April 30, 1950 in Bismarck, ND. He spent his early school years in Napoleon, ND, graduating from Bismarck High School and attended Bismarck Junior College.
In 1976, Greg married Diane Johnson and they had two children, son, Brian, and daughter, Sara. They made their home in Moorhead, MN. Their yard was always full of neighborhood children, with Greg in charge of activities.
On March 24, 1995, Greg and Patti Monson were married and Greg became a step-father to Patti’s children, Michael and Jessica. The blended family all lived together in their home in north Fargo for a short time before the children graduated and left for college. Greg was a salesman at heart. He truly enjoyed visiting with people from all walks of life. He worked for Simon’s Furniture and Union Storage for many years, as well as owning a small business with his wife, Patti. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce. In retirement, he was a part-time courtesy van driver for Corwin Auto which was a perfect fit. He got to meet new people and drive around Fargo Moorhead checking out the latest road construction. Building and flying radio controlled airplanes was Greg’s hobby his entire life. He was a long time member and Board Member of the Red River Valley RC Flyers Club. He made life-long friends through these years and spent many hours helping young people develop a love of this hobby.
As a father, grandfather, son, brother, and husband, Greg was a man of character - and always wanted to “fix” things, including our hearts. He will be remembered with love and affection. Greg is survived by his wife, Patti, son, Brian (Sheila) Wentz, daughter, Sara (Matthew) Hoffmann, step-son, Michael (Michelle), and step-daughter, Jessica Monson. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Vance, Carter, Kate, Kora, Zachary, and Caden as well as his mother, Phyllis Wentz, sisters Deb Allison (Mike), Shelly (Tom) Fitzgerald, and Cindy (Joe) Stein.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Wentz.
A Celebration of Life will also be held later this spring at the Red River Valley RC Flyers Club home field in Kragness, MN.
