Gregory Charles Olson

Gregory (Greg) Charles Olson, 60, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. He was born in Fargo, ND on June 17, 1959 to Charles and Ruth (Schlabach) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and attended school at Lincoln Elementary, Agassiz Junior High, Fargo South High, and North Dakota State University.

Growing up he loved camping with his family and spending summers at Camper’s Point. Greg joined ROTC while studying at NDSU and graduated from basic training at Fort Lewis Washington. Upon returning from basic training, he went back to work with his father and his brothers at Royal Jewelers, the family business, where he had started working at the age of 14 and worked until the time of his passing. He always loved helping people and making lifelong friends.

On November 1, 1985 he married Rochelle Aanderud of Fargo, ND. Greg and Rochelle had two daughters, Kathryn, 28, and Laura, 26, who were his pride and joy. He shared his time between Fargo, ND, Detroit Lakes, MN, and West Palm Beach, FL. Greg will be remembered for his loyalty to his friends and loved ones, and his fierce passion for the hobbies he spent his time mastering. If he wasn’t working at the jewelry store, there was a good chance he was fishing, hunting, or golfing; you could always expect he was in good company. His kindness, compassion, and generosity will forever be honored.

Greg will be missed dearly by his mother, Ruth Olson; Rochelle Olson; daughters, Kathryn Olson and Laura Olson; brothers, Richard Olson and Brent (Cheryl) Olson; nieces, Erica (Dahl) Kaldenberg, Jeana (Dahl) Janzen, Ruth Olson, and Grace Olson; nephew, Charles Olson; aunts, June Olson, Helen Dancer, and Carol Knoff; honorary-brother, Dan Martinson; and many cousins.

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Charles Olson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial donations in memory of Greg to Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
