Gregory Robert Heagle

July 1, 1952 — July 21, 2017

Gregory Robert Heagle, age 65, Fargo, ND, entered his Heavenly home the week of July 10, 2017. Greg was born July 1, 1952, in Grosse Pointe Park, MI, to James and Betty (Askew) Heagle. He attended Lutheran High School West in Detroit, MI. After graduation, Greg served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1974. After military service, he worked for Basin Electric Power Company in Stanton, ND as a Control Room Operator.

He married Diane Bornemann in 1974 and together they had three children. They moved to Diane’s family farm in Hannover, ND, where he was active in the St. Peter’s Lutheran church choir, spent a year as the Sunday School Superintendent, and participated in the community musical. Outwardly it would appear that he had it all, but those close to him knew of his immensely difficult struggles with alcoholism and narcotics addiction. We (his family) choose to remember him as the charismatic, clever, handsome man that we knew before his addictions took him from us. Greg was an intelligent man with a great sense of humor, he will be loved forever and greatly missed by family and friends.

Greg is survived by his ex-wife, Diane (Bornemann) Heagle, Fargo, ND; children, Angela Halseth (Keith), Jeffrey Heagle (Candace), and Alissa Heagle; grandchildren, Andrew Heagle (Kaylin), Gabriel Dick, and Benjamin Rosin; step grandchildren, Kaitlen and Brennah Halseth; brothers, Dennis, Kevin (Brenda), and David (Glynis); numerous nieces and nephews.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Heagle; and his sister, Jill, who died of crib death.
