Gregory Allen Hanson, 60, of Fargo, passed away suddenly at Essentia Health on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.
Greg was born on the 4th of July 1952 in Fargo, ND, the son of Howard N. and Betty J. Hanson. He grew up and was educated in Fargo. He graduated from Fargo North High in 1970. Greg learned the baking trade at Quality Bakery in Fargo. He moved on to larger local commercial bakeries, ultimately settling at the Moorhead Hornbacher’s, where he enjoyed a 20 year career as a baker until his retirement. He leaves many great friends and associates there.
Greg possessed an indomitable spirit and dogged determination. He faced his physical limitations with acceptance and amazing grace. When life’s challenges would knock him down, he’d just pick himself up with a smile on his face and march on. He was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church. Here, he continually nurtured his unrelenting faith in God and the promise of salvation through Jesus Christ.
A major love of his life was his Lida Lake cottage, where he would literally spend every moment he could. He enjoyed being outdoors and all that came with it. He was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. Greg seemed to know everyone he bumped into and counted all of them as friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Betty, and a brother, Dennis.
He is survived by his brothers Douglas, Steven (Eldean), and Michael, three nieces, and two nephews, all of Fargo.
