Gregory Habel

Greg Habel died at his home on Saturday, November 20, 2010 following a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Gregory Alan Habel was born December 31, 1953 in Billings, Montana to Wayne and Irene (Farrell) Habel. The family moved to Moorhead in 1965. Greg attended Moorhead High School, where he was a stand-out athlete in baseball – his passion. He went on to play amateur baseball and fast-pitch softball for many years in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Greg attended MSU for a short time and went on to work at O’Day Equipment and Combined Insurance. The family moved to Maryland, where he was a district manager for 7UP. After ten years in Maryland, they returned in 1984 and Greg worked for Builders Management Investment Co. for 12 years. The last 5 years were spent working at Goldmark Property Management. He thoroughly enjoyed his work at Goldmark and had many friends among his coworkers. Greg married Bobbie Erickson in Alexandria, Minnesota on June 11, 1977. Together they had two children, Lisa (Tyson) Fairbanks, Alvord, TX; and Angela (Brady Callaghan) Habel, Fargo, ND; as well as two grandchildren, Isabella and Sofia Fairbanks. Greg is survived by his mother, Irene Crane, Sweet Home, OR; brothers, Gordy (Lori) Habel, Fargo, ND; Jeff (Rhonda) Habel, Woodbury, MN; sister, Janet (Jim) Haney, Florence, MT; Cheri Habel, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne; stepmother, Helen, mother and father-in-law, Ken and Ethel Erickson. Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: 1-2PM, Saturday, at the funeral home.
