Gregory "Flugie" Phillip Flugstad, age 70, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at home on Mar 4, 2024. Greg was born on May 12, 1953, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to George and Joyce Flugstad (Tucker). Greg grew up in Cottage Grove, MN. Greg married Joanne (Krech) Feb 17, 1973, and raised their family in Inver Grove Heights, MN, before moving to Fargo in 1984.
Throughout the years, Greg was employed by Lewis Truck Lines and later Fargo Public Schools. Greg enjoyed many years of fishing, motorcycling, hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time at the family lake cabin. Some of our fondest memories include numerous family camping trips and motorhome adventures exploring several state and national parks throughout the United States and Canada.
Greg had many cars throughout his life. He would often point out a car, stating how he "had one just like that, except mine had…" and could recall specific details of how his differed. Later in life, he enjoyed working on his Model A and Corvette. Greg was often found in the garage, tinkering with engines and vehicles of all kinds. He loved sharing his knowledge, helping others with their car troubles, and often finding creative ways to troubleshoot. You would often hear him shouting, "Joan, who sings this?" He always "knew" the song title and artist, even if he was wrong. Greg had a unique sense of humor, always telling jokes and one-liners- anything to get a laugh out of people. He was a storyteller and loved sharing stories over a cold beverage or two.
Greg is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Heather (Darin) Nelson of Chaska, MN, Amanda (Caleb) Getz of Fargo, and Leona (Amon) Engberg of Fargo; grandchildren, Abby, Avery, Gage, Marley, and Abe; brother, Mike Flugstad, of Fargo; and sister-in-law, Lora Flugstad, of Inver Grove Heights, MN; stepmom, Doris Flugstad, of Commerce City, Colorado; special four-legged friend, Bernie; a large circle of loving family and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, George Flugstad, and mother, Joyce Nagle.
Special shout out to the many Sanford healthcare workers, nurses, and providers who helped along the way; an extra special thank you to the dialysis team at Sanford on South University.
As per Greg's request, no formal funeral or memorial services will be held. A small private family celebration of life will be held at a later time.
