Gordon Zitzow

Gordon R. Zitzow, 88, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at his residence. Gordon Richard Zitzow was born September 12, 1919, in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, son of Henry C. and Esther Helen (Loebrick) Zitzow. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Gordon attended Vergas Elementary School, graduating from Moorhead High School. He attended the University of Minnesota-St. Paul, studying agriculture and Dairy Operations. Gordon served in the United States Army from December 1942, to November 1945. He married Bernice E. Krahn on January 12, 1950, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. Gordon was employed at Vergas Creamery and Cass Clay before becoming a partner of Moorhead Linoleum and Tile Company. He retired in 1981. Gordon was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. Gordon is survived by his wife, Bernice, Moorhead, MN; four daughters, Deborah (Barry) Brownstein, Lutherville, MD; Vicki (Leslie) Harrison, Moorhead, MN; Joan (Brian) Muehler, Moorhead, MN; Lois (Dale) Birkeland, Moorhead, MN; his son, Daniel (Karol) Zitzow, Moorhead, MN; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Melvin and Robert Zitzow. Memorial service: Friday, September 28, 2007 at 2:00PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran School, 1025 14th Avenue South, Fargo, ND 58103.
