Gloria Ann Meyers, 97, Fargo, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Eventide Senior Living Community, Fargo.
Gloria Ann Johnson was born April 6, 1924, to John and Alice Johnson in Watertown, SD. It was in Watertown where she met her future husband, Bernard Meyers. They were united in marriage on August 31, 1945. Their three daughters, Jennifer, Jeanette, and Nancy, were also born in Watertown. They moved their family of five to Fargo in the spring of 1957, just in time for Fargo's devastating tornado in June 1957. Fargo became their permanent home.
Gloria was somewhat of a private person who was very proud of her Norwegian Lutheran heritage and strong faith. She raised the three girls with very high expectations for their futures while Bernie traveled with his job during the week. They believed in very strong family values, which are very clear when you look back on Gloria's life. Her family will tell you that she was an incredible, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Gloria could prepare family dinners that you would never forget and bake anything that you could imagine. Her great-grandchildren nicknamed her "GG" because great-grandma was a little too long for the little ones. Gloria's love for her family knew no boundaries. She always had baked goods to drop off at everybody's house. On your birthday, you always got a card with a little something in it along with lots of love. And of course, the topper was you always had a perfectly baked angel food cake with seven-minute frosting. Paper plates were never an option, her coffee was always in a cup with a saucer, and she set her table as if royalty were coming to dinner.
"I thank you for the love you each have shown. But now it's time that I travel alone! So, if you need me, call, and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all of my love around you, soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone… I'll greet you with a smile and, "Welcome Home!" ~author unknown
