Gloria Ann Bjorklund

Gloria A. Bjorklund, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2014 at her home at RiverPointe, Moorhead, MN. Gloria Ann Vogt was born March 7, 1929 in Duluth, MN to Lawrence and Kathryn Vogt and growing up, shared many happy times with family and friends. Denfeld High School is where Gloria met Howie, the love of her life, and they shared 69 wonderful years together as best friends.

Gloria and Howie were married April 8, 1949 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Duluth, MN. Making their home in Fargo, ND, they raised three children and she enjoyed every aspect of being a wife, homemaker and mother. Gloria was a wonderful cook and loved providing meals for her family; for many years she organized luncheons with her Abigail Circle family at First Lutheran Church for numerous others to enjoy.

Gloria was a competitive, avid sports fan and player. Enjoying golf and bowling were one of her many passions, and while all her trophies and awards can attest to this, it was the many friendships she always enjoyed and cherished that were most important to her. She loved watching football (especially her team, the Minnesota Vikings), playing cards with friends, and board games with her children and grandchildren.

She also enjoyed reading, saying many books were her “friends”, and passed on her love of books to her children and many of her grandchildren as well.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 65 years, Howie; her children, Jim (Pat) Bjorklund, Moorhead; Kerry Jo (Jeff) Huguelet, Fargo; and Kathy (Brian) Hovey, Urbandale, IA; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Marc (Danielle) Bjorklund-Blake and Max, Blaine, MN; Janna (Ryan) Kortan-Joe, Olivia and Drew, Moorhead, MN; Scott (Kate) Bjorklund-expecting this year which made Grammy Glor so very happy to know!); Sara (Erick) Galt, Fargo, ND; Josh Huguelet, Fargo, ND; Jayce Hovey, Urbandale, IA and Jessie Ann Hovey, Urbandale, IA.

Gloria is also survived by one sister, Marilyn (Richard) Baker, Lakewood, CO and 4 sisters-in-law, Lorrayne (“Bud”) Vogt, Jamestown, ND; Beverly (Thomas) Vogt, Nevada City, CA: Margaret (Herbert) Bjorklund, Duluth, MN and Frances (Clarence) Bjorklund, Eagan, MN and many cherished and loved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley and RiverPointe of Moorhead. Gloria will be dearly missed.
