Glenn Heaton

Glenn William Heaton, Fargo, ND, died on April 14, 2010, at Innovis Health, Fargo. Mr. Heaton was born to William and Hattie (Redman) Heaton on June 25, 1919, near Lisbon, North Dakota, where he grew to manhood. He attended rural school and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1936. He graduated from North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, in 1939. He was inducted into the US Army Federal Service with the 164th Infantry NDNG on February 10, 1941. He served with Headquarters, European Theatre of Operations and participated in the Normandy Beach landing of France. With five years active service, he separated from service January 1946, as a Captain. Mr. Heaton joined Ford Division of Ford Motor Company in 1946, in Fargo. He served in several capacities with the Fargo District and later with the Twin Cities District sales offices. He retired in April 1976. Mr. Heaton married Phyllis Ellingson of Fargo on August 8, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana. After 46 years of marriage, Phyllis passed away on August 18, 1988. He married Mary Dauer on April 11, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Phyllis (Hans) Hohle, Fargo, ND; Susan (Tim) Rooney, Schaumburg, IL; two sisters, Neva (Charles) Boatman and Ila (Ken) DeKrey; one brother, Kent (Marilyn); two grandchildren, Andrea McNabb and David (Erin) Mott; two great-grandsons, Harrison and Alexander Mott; and the extended family of his wife, Mary. Mr. Heaton was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Fargo Elks Lodge, member of Shiloh #1 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Mason and El Zagal Shrine. He was also a member of the Fargo VFW and American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the local chapters of the American Red Cross or Salvation Army are preferred. Funeral: Friday, April 16, 2010, at 3:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
