Glen Arthur Stenberg, 93, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Bismarck, ND, passed away on November 18, 2018, at Eventide Nursing Home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Glen was born on February 15, 1925, to Gust and Minnie (Shirley) Stenberg in Robinson, ND.
Glen graduated from Robinson High School. At a dance in Robinson in 1946, Glen met the love of his life, Leone Fagereng. They were married on April 1, 1950 in Robinson, ND. They raised their family in Bismarck, ND. They had three children, Ronald; and twins, Barbara and Brenda. Glen and Leone celebrated 68 years of marriage this year, still dancing together in his dreams.
Playing baseball, he was a star pitcher for the Robinson baseball team. He was known statewide for his pitching abilities, and his claim to fame was pitching against Satchel Paige. Glen was a glazier with Vantine Paint and Glass and C&H Glass. He would often brag to his family about the glass he installed all over Bismarck.
Glen had a beautiful singing voice and was requested to sing at many special occasions. He was a fisherman and a sports fan – his favorite teams were the Detroit Tigers and L.A. Dodgers. Glen taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran in Bismarck for many years. He and Leone are members at Lord of Life Lutheran in Bismarck. He appreciated his many years of sobriety and mentored many others through AA. Glen was proud of his Norwegian heritage, and he and Leone had an extended trip of a lifetime to Norway to visit relatives. Glen always kept his family and friends laughing with his stubborn passion for life.
Glen is survived by his wife, Leone Stenberg; children, Ronald (Karla) Stenberg, Barbara (Darrell) Waters, and Brenda (Terry) Rydell; grandchildren, Aaron (Jill), Heather (Dan), Kristina (Alex), Heath, and Justin (Sarah); 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Marvin (Cora) Stenberg; his sister, Helen (William) White; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson, Shaun.
