Gladys Mickelson

Gladys Mickelson, 81, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Gladys Natalie Gums was born September 30, 1927, in Medina, North Dakota to John and Rose (Deile) Gums. She grew up on her parent’s farm south of Medina. She was baptized December 4, 1927. Gladys graduated from high school in 1945. Gladys attended Valley City State Teacher’s College and taught school in the rural area for one year. She then attended Dakota Business College in Jamestown, North Dakota. She worked at the Farmer’s Union Insurance office for 12 years. Gladys married A.G. “Mike” Mickelson August 10, 1963, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, North Dakota. She worked at Pioneer Mutual Life Insurance Company at Fargo, North Dakota for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and six brothers. Gladys is survived by her husband, A. G. Mickelson, Fargo, ND; three step-daughters, Vicki Lynn (Ron) Beaton, Cotton Lake, MN; Patricia Gail (Bob) Rheault, Fargo, ND; Kathy Ann Mickelson, Fargo, ND; two step-sons, Hugh Stan Mickelson, Dallas, TX; and Kim Alan (Linda) Mickelson, Minneapolis, MN. Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Monday, March 23, 2009, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Monday, March 23, 2009 at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
