Gerhard S. Amundson

Gerhard Amundson, 98, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.

Gerhard Sanford Amundson was born November 21, 1913, at Christine, North Dakota, son of Lewis and Gina Amundson. He attended school in Christine.

Gerhard worked for the CCC program in Itasca State Park in Minnesota and Arvilla, North Dakota.

Gerhard married Gladys Engen March 15, 1937.

He worked for United Airlines out of Cheyenne, Wyoming, before moving to Larimore, North Dakota and working for Solar Gas delivering propane. He and Gladys moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and finally Fargo, after the flood of 1997. Gladys died July 27, 2002.

Gerhard is survived by a son, Duane (Donna) Amundson, Vancouver, WA; and a daughter, Becky (David) Backen, Fargo, ND; sister, Lillian Erwin, San Diego, CA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; his son, Jerry; five sisters and one brother.

Funeral Service: Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.

Burial: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.
