Gerald B. Swits, 95, of Fargo, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Gerald “Jerry” Swits was born August 11, 1915, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Clinton and Anna Swits where he grew up and graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul. When he was overseas serving in the 75th 1st Engineering Parts Supply of the U.S. Army, he met and married Sybil Pavell of Berringham, England. Returning to St. Paul, he proceeded with his original job with Borchert Engersoll. Gerald, and one of the salesmen, obtained the A.C. dealership in Indianapolis where he set up and was in charge of the parts department. After two years, he felt blessed for the opportunity to come to Fargo to be employed for long time acquaintance and friend of the Sweeny Heavy Equipment where he remained for forty years their purchases and coordinator manager. He had been parts supply advisor at Staples Minnesota Area Vocation School of Heavy Equipment where he frequently visited. Jerry and Georgeann Markel of Fargo spoke their wedding vows June 15, 1984. Those were happy years. Jerry loved all sports. He arranged the Sweeny Brothers Fast Pitch Baseball Team in which he played in for 12 years. He sponsored the girl’s fast pitch that won city and state as well as the men’s baseball. He was active in bowling in which he was board member and president. He was a member of American Legion, VFW and Sr. Kiwanis. He leaves his widow, Georgann, Fargo, ND; son, Gerald Jr.; Paula (Frank) Hurley; and Dr. Deberah Lincoln; two nieces and two nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers. We will miss you Jerry. Rest in Peace. We all loved you. Funeral: Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Memory Gardens, Valley City, ND, Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 5:00 P.M.
