George E. Reynolds, age 88, of Fargo, ND, died there on Friday, March 11, 2016. He was born November 29, 1927 in Bismarck, ND to LeRoy and Clarissa Reynolds, graduated from Douglas high school as valedictorian in 1945, entered the military (Army Air Corps then Air Force) in 1945, serving in Minnesota, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Washington, Alaska, New York, North Dakota, Alabama, Norway, Colorado and Washington, DC, where he retired as CWO4 from the Pentagon in 1968. He then was the reimbursement manager at Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society in Fargo.
After fighting with her for six years, he married the 1946 Douglas high school valedictorian, Yola Arndt, March 30, 1951 in Minot and they traveled the world until Yola moved to Bethany on University in 2011. Prior to her passing three years later, he traveled to his beloved’s side each and every evening to have supper with her and read to her until she fell asleep.
His older son, Justin (Kay), died in January. Survivors include his younger son Scott; Justin’s and Scott’s ex’s, Mary and Margaret; granddaughters, Kathryn (Brian Schott), Sarah (Tim Oistad), Annika (Al Berg), Elizabeth (Aaron Bauer), and Laura; grandsons, John and Christopher; great-granddaughter, Indigo; great-grandsons, Kane and Vinton.
A musical service is planned for 6pm Sunday, March 20 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, 215 7th St. S., Fargo, ND. George will be buried at the ND Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND at 1pm Monday, March 21.
