George Haworth

George Haworth, 87, of Fargo passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home in Fargo. George Leon Haworth was born July 11, 1920 to Clem and Lottie (Melton) Haworth in Donnellson, IL. He had a brother Tyrol and sister Mary Mewmaw. He spent six years in the Navy out of high school serving in the Pacific Theatre. In 1947 he began his career with Northwest Bell, where he worked for 36 years, moving from lineman up to an engineer in later years. His work brought him from Velva to many different stops finally ending up in Fargo where he retired in 1982. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, but most importantly was the time he spent with his family. George also volunteered for the food pantry, United Blood Services and the Red Cross, among others. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; two daughters, Barbara Davis, Minneapolis, MN and Beverly (Terry) Cullen, Fargo, ND; grandchildren; Andrea (Jeromy) Kloss, Phoenix, AZ and Mark Davis, Minneapolis, MN and one great-grandchild, Hannah Davis, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. Funeral: Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Faith United Methodist Church, 909 19th Ave. N. Fargo, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, June 4, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND. Memorials are preferred to the Cullen Children’s Foundation
