Geneva Ellenson, 97, of Starbuck, MN, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Minnewaska Lutheran Nursing Home, Starbuck, MN. Geneva Fjelstad was born November 12, 1914, in rural Kindred, Norman Township, North Dakota, daughter of Johan and Alette (Korslien) Fjelstad. She attended school in Kindred and Valley City Norman School. Geneva graduated from Moorhead State Teacher's College and taught elementary school in Kindred and rural Gardner, ND. Geneva married Herbert Ellenson October 25, 1941, in Perley, Minnesota. Together they raised their four children while residing on a farm near Gardner. During this time, in addition to farming, Geneva worked at K-Mart and co-operated a grocery store with Herbert in Perley, MN. In 1980, Geneva and Herbert moved to Fargo. They retired and spent six winters in Arizona from 1996 to 2002. Geneva belonged to Nora Lutheran Church, the Nora Ladies Aid and the Senior Citizens in Gardner. She was a kind, loving and loyal woman who dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was involved in school and church activities. She enjoyed homemaking, baking, cooking, gardening and crocheting, and was a fine teacher. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and former students. Geneva is survived by three daughters, Barbara Johnson (Roger Pederson), Starbuck, MN; Janet (Paul) Bonn, Phoenix, AZ; and Patricia Trifari, Carefree, AZ; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; son, Wayne Michael Ellenson; and son-in-law, Gary L. Johnson. Funeral Service: Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Nora Lutheran Church, Gardner, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the services at church. Burial: Nora Lutheran Cemetery.
