Gene Payne

Gene Payne, 84, of Fargo, died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Eugene “Gene” Andrew Payne was born on July 1, 1924 in Argusville, ND to Leonard and Beulah (Buzick) Payne. He attended schools in the area and graduated from Argusville High School. Gene married Betty Hlebechuk on July 5, 1945 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Gene enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, dancing, woodworking, building race cars and racing. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. Gene is survived by his wife; his children, Susan (Robert) Bergman, West Fargo, ND; Thomas (Sandra) Payne, Dilworth, MN; Mary Jean (Charles) Jones, Argusville, ND; James (Mary Beth) Payne, West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Service: Friday, December 19, 2008 at 1PM at Plymouth Congregational Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 5 – 7PM at Hanson Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 7PM at the funeral home. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
