Gary Marcel Sauvageau, 70, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, in his home.

Gary was born on May 21, 1952, to Marcel and Marie Sauvageau in Fargo, North Dakota. Gary graduated from Fargo South High School and attended NDSCS for plumbing. He continued his education at Purdue University, where he took an Instructor Training Program and became a Master Plumber. Gary was self-employed for many years and finished his career at Valley Service Mechanical.

Gary was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo and was the president of the FM Walleyes. He was also a part of Fargo's Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 300.

In his free time, Gary would take veterans fishing and taught a Youth Custom Rod building class. Gary enjoyed fishing, building fishing rods, spending time with his grandkids, and camping at Little Toad Lake. He also enjoyed watching the NDSU Bison Football team play, tailgating, and spending time around the campfire.

Gary is survived by his siblings, Sharon Sauvageau (Edward Jadrny), Shirley (Leland) Wenner, Douglas (Delores) Sauvageau, Dallas (Shari) Sauvageau, Eugene (Vicki) Sauvageau, Ronald (Tracy) Sauvageau, Nancy Sauvageau, Patricia (Bradly) Schwab, Randy Sauvageau; his children, Chad (Tricia) Sauvageau, Christy (Jake) Forward, Heidi (Greg) Mattern; and his grandchildren, Garret Sauvageau, Maren Sauvageau, Kade Forward, Kiara Forward, Kole Forward, Mariah Mattern, and Kaia Mattern.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Marie Sauvageau, and his brother Michael Sauvageau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the F-M Walleyes for the Take-A-Veteran Fishing events, and Youth Custom Rod Building Classes.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, North Dakota. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.
