Gail Saar, 79, Fargo passed away Tuesday, May 20 at Sanford Health surrounded by her loving family.
Gail was born July 16, 1934 to Martin and Hazel Melting in Halstad, Minnesota. She graduated from Norman County West and Interstate Business College. Gail worked at Children's Village and when she and her future husband, Wayne, began dating they would often be joined by one of the children she worked with.
Gail married Wayne Saar on December 30, 1955 and they made their home in Fargo. They loved to go dancing, enjoyed being with friends in various clubs and organizations and she loved music, particularly jazz and big band concerts. Gail joined Wayne working together in the travel industry for 104 years combined. They really enjoyed their years of serving the community by arranging a wide variety of trips and vacations. Gail was wonderful with her customers, many of whom she considered friends and often worked late nights and weekends to make sure their trips were planned and executed with excellence. She enjoyed travelling with Wayne and had very fond memories of their many journeys.
Gail was a wonderful and loving wife and mother of 3 daughters often sacrificing her wants and needs for those of her family. Her 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild were the sunshine of her life and she enjoyed bragging about them.
She was a voracious reader and passed on that love of reading to her kids, grandkids and great-grandchild. She had a quick mind and wit and was a crossword, cryptoquip and puzzle aficionado. She loved the times her whole family was together enjoying meals, playing games, doing puzzles and watching the children play.
Gail is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughters: Cynthia Saar (Scott Kjonaas), Moorhead, MN, Karen Schur (Steve), Fargo, ND, Kirsten Carroll (Brian), Midland, MI; grandchildren: Courtney & Erika Schur, Madison, Micah and Abby Carroll; great-granddaughter: Rayne Schur; and sister: Linda Vanderpool (Bill), Des Moines, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
