Frieda Emilia Lundquist of Fargo died Saturday August 21, 2010 at Bethany Retirement Living on University Drive South. Frieda was born November 1, 1916 to Germans from Russia immigrants Albert and Katharina (Martin) Unterseher on their homestead farm north of Killdeer, North Dakota. She attended a rural elementary school near their farm. She was confirmed at the Friedens (Peace) Lutheran church North of Dunn Center in April 1930. Frieda moved to Killdeer, North Dakota and graduated from Killdeer High School. While in Killdeer, she worked for Leo Harris who was a local photographer, an ice cream store, a local hotel, and Mrs. Elphie Faust. Frieda met Peter Lundquist at the funeral for his sister, Mrs. Faust. Frieda and Peter (Pete) were married on December 30, 1937 in Moorhead, Minnesota. To this union three children were born; Alberta Ann Lundquist Curtis, John Alex Lundquist and Lenora (Linda) Kathleen Lundquist Scheer. Frieda worked for the Dutch Maid Ice Cream Company in Fargo, and later purchased the ice cream store. She later owned a restaurant by the name Dutch Maid, located on North Broadway. After retirement, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. Frieda is survived by her daughter Linda Scheer of Fargo and son John Lundquist (Roberta) of Lakewood, Colorado, and 14 grand children, 23 great grand children, and 3 great great grandchildren. Her husband Pete Lundquist and her daughter Alberta Ann Lundquist (Harold) Curtis preceded her in death. Also, surviving are Frieda’s brothers Christ Unterseher, Otto Unterseher, Arthur Unterseher, and sister Elizabeth Dukart. Surviving grand children include Rose Curtis (Gary) Koslofsky of Fargo; Edward Curtis; James (Tami) Curtis of Fargo; Daniel (Leslie) Curtis of Fargo; Sharon (Bill) Holmes of West Fargo; Patricia “Trish” (Steven) Duerre of Bottineau; Harold “Charlie” (Michele) Curtis of Rogers, Arkansas, Erik (Shannon) Lundquist of Gypsum, Colorado, Mark Lundquist of Herndon, Virginia; Kurt (Holly) Scheer of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; Anton “Pastor Tony” (Carol) Scheer of Garden Grove, California; Steven Scheer of Fargo; Michael (Kara) Scheer of Fargo; and Robert Scheer of Fargo.
