Fred Sprunk

Fred “Fritz” Sprunk, 80, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo. Fred was born August 3, 1930, in Chaffee, North Dakota, son of Ralph and Elizabeth (Heilman) Sprunk. He attended Chaffee School and graduated from Wheatland High School and served in the US Air Force for four years. Fred married Arlene Hilde July 30, 1965, in Jevnaker Lutheran Church, Borup, Minnesota. They lived their life together in Fargo. Arlene died in 1999. He was employed at Amstan for 24 years and also served in the NDANG until his discharge in 1988. During his retirement, he worked at various businesses including Tri State Auction, Lunde Lincoln Mercury and First National Bank, West Fargo, ND. Fred was a lifelong active member of Elim Lutheran Church. Fred is survived by his siblings, Ralph (Vera) Sprunk, Oskaloosa, IA; Mary Lou Cappelloni, San Jose, CA; Sr. Georgiana (Colleen) Sprunk, Fargo, ND; Rose Ann (George) Garlund, Carrington, ND; Ronald Sprunk, West Fargo, ND; and Jane Jacobson, Fargo, ND; mother-in-law, Alice C. Hilde, Ulen, MN; brothers-in-law, Orvin Hilde, Ulen, MN; Brent (Brenda) Hilde, Felton, MN; sister-in-law, Carol (Joe) Rehder, Dilworth, MN; and many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Marjorie Stalcup. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; and father-in-law, Melvin Hilde. Funeral Service: Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 10:00 AM, at Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, May 13, 2011, from 5-7 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial: West Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen, MN.
