Floyd Carl Weist almost reached his 90th birthday. He went to Heaven early Monday morning, Dec. 12, 2016.
Floyd was born March 28, 1927 in Kulm, North Dakota to Anna and Carl Weist. He was orphaned as a small child and spent time at the Fargo Children’s Home and then worked on the Ernest and Alice Johnson farm near Gwinner. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He met and married Leona (Schmit) Weist and was with her until her death in 2011. They were married over 65 years.
Floyd was in the car business for over 60 years and sold Studebakers, Edsels, and was a top ranking salesman for Pontiac. His sons share his love of cars. He served on the police force during the 60’s but being a car salesman called him back. He was an excellent handyman and always willing to help friends. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and cars but his favorite thing was visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by six children, daughter, Carolee (Jerry) Hill, San Diego, CA; daughter, Sandra (Brian) Swor; son, Steven Weist; daughter, Linda Cebulski; son, Troy (Karen) Weist; son, Jay Weist, all of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren, Chris (Nicole) Elleraas, Jeff (Suzanne) Elleraas, Jason (Jenn) Hill, Drew (fiancé Liza Thompson) Weist, Joe Weist, Elly Weist, Jacob Weist, Tammy Swor, Kim Coon (fiancé Jared Bubendorf), Adam Swor, Calli Cebulski, and Lane Cebulski; and 6 great-grandchildren: Olivia Coon, Noah Coon, Ava Elleraas, Ethan Elleraas, Ryan Elleraas and Katelyn Elleraas. He is also survived by his life-time family friend, Ron Nelson. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; his parents and 2 sisters.
