Fern Vivian Trandem, age 91, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Eventide Living Center in Moorhead, MN. Fern Vivian Hole was born August 28, 1917, in Erskine, MN, to Christian (C.P.) and Edna (Wadekamper) Hole. She was confirmed in the Erskine Methodist Church and in 1935, she graduated as Valedictorian of her class. On June 14, 1940, she married Sherley R. Sampson in Crookston, MN. Sherley was called into service in December 1940 and died at Pearl Harbor on the Arizona, Dec. 7, 1941. A son, Sheldon R., whom Sherley never saw, was born on July 1, 1941. On Dec. 24, 1947, in Erskine, Fern married Aron J. Trandem. A son, Leslie J. was born August 17, 1948. They lived in Erskine, where Aron worked for Garden Valley Telephone Company until he was transferred to Bagley, MN, in 1959. Aron passed away December 11, 1978. Fern moved to Fargo, ND, in 1989, where she resided until her death. She is survived by two sons, Sheldon (Dorothy) Sampson of Faribault, MN; Leslie (Brenda) Trandem of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Michael (Cornelia) Sampson of Vadnais Heights, MN; John Trandem; Melodie (Donald) Pochmara, of Fargo, ND; five great-grandchildren, Ingrid and Maya Sampson, Aron, Christian, and David Pochmara; her sister, Eunice (Tootsie) Fish of Fosston, MN; many nieces, nephews and friends. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Edna Hole; six brothers, Earl, Loren, Ray, Kenneth, Guy, and Curtis; two sisters, Ethel Broin and Cora Trandem. Funeral Service: Friday, June 26, 2009, at 11 am, in Hope Lutheran Church, North Campus, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, June 25, 2009, from 5 to 7 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7 pm, at Hanson Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Bagley City Cemetery, Bagley, MN.
