**DUE TO WEATHER, EVELYN'S SERVICE HAS BEEN POSTPONED INDEFINITELY**
Evelyn Lenore Zelenak, daughter of John and Evelyn Strand, was born on October 13, 1922 at the farmstead in Abercrombie, ND. She was the fourth child in this family and was the last surviving member. Her siblings were Maurene Gibson, John Strand, Elder Strand, Jean Paczkowski and Raymond Strand. She moved to California in the early 1940’s. She married Vernon Shaw in 1946. There they owned several donut shops and later moved to the Lake Elsinore area. She later moved to Sun City, CA where she was very active in Faith Lutheran Church, even after Vernon’s passing. She later married Frank Zelenak. After his passing, she moved to an independent living facility in Sun City. She moved back to North Dakota and passed away on February 22, 2019 residing at Bethany Retirement Living.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephew and great-grand nieces and nephews. They were very important to her and she tried to remember all of their names and birthdays. She is also survived by a few of the infamous “Strand Cousins,” which was a very important part of her life.
