Evelyn “Evie” Schilling, 87, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Evelyn Ione Neas was born to Leo and Alma (Backhouse) Neas on September 23, 1922, in Tomah, Wisconsin, where she later graduated from Tomah High School in 1940. She then completed cosmetology school and worked briefly as a beautician. In 1943, Evie married William “Bill” Schilling and they moved to Fargo in 1946, where she became a homemaker, mother of four, day care provider and youth baseball volunteer. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. She was a sixty one year member of Olivet Lutheran Church. Bowling, playing bridge and reading were her favorite pastimes. She frequently attended local sporting events and later supported them by listening to their games on the radio, particularly, the Fargo Red Hawks. Evie is survived by her children, Voncille (Ken) Olmscheid, Surprise, AZ; Sandra (Ken) Cunningham, Red Wing, MN; James (Evy) Schilling, Fargo, ND: Pamela Schilling, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. vShe was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Olivet Lutheran Church Radio Fund. Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
