Evelette T. Snyder, 94, died on January 27, 2009, in Velva, North Dakota. She was the wife of North Dakota filmmaker, Bill Snyder. Evie was born to Sigrid (Kleiv) and Percy Mattson on September 10, 1914, in Moorhead, Minnesota. She lived her childhood in Moorhead, later graduating from Moorhead High. At a young age, she was employed at the Fargo Theater. She and her sisters were known as the Mattson girls who sold tickets at the theaters. She later was employed at the Fargo Clinic, and WDAY. In 1945, she married Donald Auman, who died in 1949. There were no children by their marriage. In 1953, she married William D. Snyder in Fargo. Bill died September 14, 2007, at which time Evie moved to Velva, North Dakota, to be closer to family. Evie had been a resident of Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead and later Souris Valley Care Center, Velva. Evie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. She was always the one who was behind the scene "getting the job done." Her talents and interests included reading, sewing, cooking, and following Bill on his various endeavors, even when it meant long trips in the Cessna. Evie also did beautiful needlework, which was displayed proudly by her family, and in their home. She is survived by her children, Mary Liz (Ron) Davis, Velva, ND and Thomas (Nancy), River Forest, IL. Grandchildren include Tad, Erik, Bill and Carsten Espeseth, Karlie and Lacy Davis, and David, Elizabeth and William Snyder; great-grandchild, Collin Espeseth and baby girl Espeseth, due in May. She is also survived by special niece, Beverly Sorby. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; son-in-law, Myles Espeseth; sisters, Alma LeMon, Mabel Tate, Viola Skrei, Adele Reeves; and brothers, Morris and Pete Mattson. Visitation and prayer service Friday, January 30, 2009, at Hanson Runsvold Funeral home from 5:30 - 7:00pm. Funeral on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 2:00 pm, First Congregational Church, 17th Avenue South Fargo. Burial at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead, at 4:30 pm.
