Eunice C. Wassberg nee Bagley, 88, of Fargo, passed away quietly in the early morning on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Ecumen Evergreens in Moorhead, MN. Her beloved husband Leslie G. Wassberg and family members were at her side.
Eunice was born in Williston, ND on November 12, 1929 to Rev. Emil G. Bagley and Ovidia J. Bagley. They later moved to Minnesota and she graduated from High School in Big Lake, Minnesota. She received a nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital School of nursing and later a Parish nursing degree from Concordia in 1995.
Eunice married Rev. Leslie G. Wassberg on March 28, 1953 and they served parishes in Lake Bronson, MN, Warren, MN and at Messiah Lutheran in Fargo. Eunice worked as a nurse in Warren, MN, at the VA Hospital in Fargo, and also as a Parish nurse at Elim Lutheran Church in Fargo. She was very proud of her career in nursing.
They had 3 daughters and one son. They also have 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with another expected in the spring. She loved her family and took great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eunice is survived by her husband of 65 years Les Wassberg; daughters, Linda (Dwight) Ness, Karen (Jack) Lind; son, Steve (Brenda nee Nelson) Wassberg; sisters, Phyllis Enger (WA), Virley Brown (MN), Yvonne (Orville) Olson (MN), Jacquelyn (Kenneth) Hanson (CA), Carol Jean (Roger) Humphrey (WY); brothers, Robert (Naomi) Bagley (MN), Dan (Diane) Bagley (CA) and Harold (Terry) Bagley (MN); sister-in-law, Lois Bagley (MN); grandchildren, Andrew (Carolyn) Ness (WA), Matthew Ness (Fargo), Richard (Melissa) Ness (MO), Sarah (Chad) Johnson (NY), Rachel (Sam) Frisell (GA), Ben Lind (Fargo), Alexandra (Matthew) Lund (Bismarck), Shane (fiance - Laura) Gilliss (Minot), Seth (fiance - Shania) Gilliss (Fargo); 4 great-grandchildren, David , Erik, Ethan, and Laylah; along with many nieces and nephews.
Eunice was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin Gilliss; her parents; two brothers, Emil and David; two brothers-in-law, Harold Enger and Forrest Brown; sister-in-law, Kathy Bagley; and one infant sister.
Memorials are preferred to the Elim Lutheran Church Foundation or the Elim Lutheran Church Parish Nurse program.
