Eugene "Gene" L. Iverson, 86, of One Oak Place, Fargo, died Monday, July 10, 2017, in his home. Eugene was born March 21, 1931, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Later the family moved to Fargo, ND. He attended school in Fargo.
Eugene enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served on the destroyers USS Mason and USS Silverstein. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in October 1952. He then returned to Fargo, ND and met Lois Braaten. On July 15, 1954, he married Lois in Fargo. She preceded him in death in 1998 after 43 years of marriage. He worked for Fargo Tire for many years and then went to work for Midwest Motor Express until his retirement.
He had many hobbies. Dad was an impressive wood carver and artist. He enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in various sports. He also enjoyed watching the Twins, Vikings, Wild, NDSU Football and NDSU Women's Basketball. He particularly enjoyed going to the Ed Clapp Senior Center to visit and play cards.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Randall) Hansen, Somers, MT; a son, Matthew (Jennifer) Fargo; two grandsons, Braydon and Brody; two brothers, Roger (Olga) Iverson, Fargo, and Glen (Avis) Iverson, Roseau, MN and sister, Carol (Vern) Wik, Moorhead, MN.
He is preceded in death by wife Lois; parents, Clarence and Jeannette; sister, Joyce; brother, Russell and special uncle, Jim Carlson.
