Ethel Bristol, 101, Fargo, ND passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the home of her daughter, with her family at her side.
Ethel Irene Wold was born July 21, 1914 near Battle Lake, MN to William and Gina (Foss) Wold. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school until polio left her in an iron lung at Gillette Hospital in Minneapolis for 1 year. Ethel later worked as a telephone operator in Fergus Falls.
On June 3, 1939, Ethel married Howard Bristol at the Federated Church in Fergus Falls, MN. They made their home there until moving to Fargo/Moorhead. They also resided at Pelican Lake. Together they raised 3 children, Richard (Judith), Don (Lois) and Carol, all of Fargo.
Ethel will be remembered for her love of music, hardanger, crocheting many afghans, knitting and baking Norwegian treats.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gina Wold and 3 brothers, Curtis, Kenneth and Raymond Wold. Her husband Howard passed away in 2001.
