Esther L. Anderson, 83, Fargo, ND died peacefully on Wednesday, October 26th, 2011 at Elim Care Center in Fargo. Esther Lucille Stach was born June 17th, 1928 in Anamoose, ND to Pauline (Pfeiffer) and John Stach. She attended school first in McCluskey and then Goodrich, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1946. She completed a 2-year teaching degree at Valley City Teachers College, after which she spent several years teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in central North Dakota. Esther accepted an invitation from her beloved Uncle Bill and his wife to move to Portland, Oregon, where she lived for several years. Upon returning to North Dakota, Esther worked for Herbst Department store on Broadway in Fargo – where she met Gerald (Gerry) Anderson. They were married in Goodrich, ND on April 12th, 1953. Gerry and Esther traveled throughout the state during the years he worked for the ND Highway Department, moving during summers to each new construction site. Gerry then took a position with the City of Fargo as a civil engineer, and they raised their family in Fargo. Esther went to work at then-new Dakota Hospital once the children were in grade school, and worked there until she retired. Finding herself with energy and time to spare, Esther had took a series of part-time jobs during her “retirement”, first as a personal assistant, and later in the Bakery at CashWise. Wherever she lived and worked, Esther made many friends and found people to take care of and to bake for. She loved to read and sew but her greatest joy was her family who will greatly miss her. Esther was preceded in death by husband, Gerry and sons, Donald and Ricky. She is survived by her brother Richard (Mercy) Stach, Corning CA and her children, Keith (Kathy) Anderson, Sioux Falls SD, Lorri (Jim Beck) Anderson, Princeton MN, Jan (Curtis) Ness, Fargo, and 9 grandchildren.
