Erwin Harold Fossum passed away peacefully on September 18, 2018 at Bethany on University Drive, Fargo, ND. He was 88 years old.
Erwin Harold Fossum was born to Julius and Ida (Skaare) Fossum at home on the Peterson Farm in Pierpont, SD, ten minutes after his twin brother, Earl Roger, on February 14, 1930.
Erwin attended Old Glory Grade School, Pierpont High, North Dakota State School of Science, and UA Instructor Training at Purdue University. He taught plumbing & pipefitting for local 337 for eight years. He worked for several companies in the Fargo-Moorhead area. He was very active in Local 330 (337) and held many offices.
Erwin enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 with 6 other friends. He served 3 years in France and was discharged in 1955.
He met Beverly Weihrauch while both were working in Aberdeen, SD and they were married on February 23, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, SD. They moved to Fargo in 1959, to Rochester, MN in 1968, and back to Fargo in 1969.
He is survived by his wife, Bev; daughters, Carol (Scott Gardner) and Cathy (Paul Gjevre) both from Cottage Grove, MN; two granddaughters, Maddy Gardner (Duluth, MN) and Sydney Gardner (Cottage Grove, MN), and one grandson, Jake Gjevre (Mankato, MN); a sister, Hazel
(John Badgely) of Mobridge, SD; three nephews and one niece; and his god-children, Dean Sombke, Reverend Richard Milbrandt, Terri Fiemann, and Paula Emery (deceased).
He is preceded in death by two daughters, Paula Kay, and one stillborn; his parents; brothers, Ivan, Gerald, Earl, and one sister, Marilyn Edman.
