Ernest “Ernie” Dahl, 85, of Moorhead, MN died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 peacefully in his home.
Ernie was born November 3, 1929 to John and Mina Dahl. He grew up in the Richland County area where he attended school. He graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo. He attended Dakota Business School. For most of his working career he was a salesman for Victor H. Leeby Co.
He married Jean Roney on June 7, 1951. They lived in Fargo except for a short time in Bismarck.
Jean passed away on May 8, 2002. He married Marlene Bye on December 27, 2003. They spent many winters in Florida where they enjoyed golfing, playing cards and spending time with friends.
Ernie loved his family. He attended many of his grandchildren’s sporting events and also enjoyed watching sports on TV. Recently he cherished the birth of his first born great-grandson, William Alexander. Family was everything to him.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 11 years, Marlene; 3 children, Mark, Marsha and Jeff (Kathy) Dahl; 6 grandchildren, Jenny, Stephanie, Emily, Katie, Alex (Kyla Gradin) and Maggie Dahl; 1 great-grandson, William; 3 step-sons, Tim (Jean) Bye, David Bye, Rob (Jana) Bye; 6 step-grandchildren, Rebecca (Paul) Dietzman, Dan (Krista) Bye, Tom Bye, John Bye, Erik Bye, and Matt Bye. He is also survived by 1 brother, Millard (Betty) Dahl and 1 sister, Norma Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; brother, Arnold; and sisters, Alice, Louise, Helen and 2 infant siblings.
