Enid Caroline (Zitzow) Lichtsinn was born on February 6, 1935 to John and Edna (Flateau) Zitzow in Perham, MN. Enid grew up and attended school in Perham, Wheaton and Breckenridge, MN; graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1953. On May 28,1955 she married her high school sweetheart, LeNoel “Lix” Lichtsinn and they moved to Minneapolis, MN.
In 1956, they relocated to Moorhead, MN and began their family. Enid completed her training in cosmetology in 1970. She remodeled their home’s basement and Enid’s Mini Parlor was born. Enid had a natural sense of style and enjoyed many dear clients who trusted their hair to her for 25 years.
Enid loved to spend time with her family at their cabin on Ottertail Lake. They entertained their close friends, the “Rowdy Bunch” at their annual camp out. Food, water sports, dance and abundant laughter were enjoyed for over 25 years at this event. This loyal group of friends remained a constant throughout their adult life. Enid and Lix loved to dance. Watching them waltz together was a beautiful illustration of their lifelong love.
Enid and LeNoel loved to travel, exploring much of the United States and the world. In 1996 they purchased a winter home in Mesa, AZ. They became “snowbirds” and established many new friendships. They became Arizona residents in 2009, with visits back to Fargo in the summer. In 2016, they moved back to Fargo to be closer to family.
Enid was an industrious and talented seamstress. She sewed many beautiful outfits in addition to elaborate costumes. She enjoyed hardanger embroidery and won awards for her work. Enid was an accomplished cook. Everyone enjoyed her hallmark meals and delicious desserts.
She was also known for her love of music. She was active in the FM Sweet Adeline’s and church choirs. Her neighbors can attest to the rollicking show tunes and hymns that boomed from her Lowrey organ wherever she lived.
Enid was a feisty force to be dealt with. When she made a decision, it was full steam ahead. Sharp until the end, she enjoyed playing whist and pinochle with fellow Eventide residents.
Enid’s Christian faith was very important to her throughout her life. She was baptized in 1935 and confirmed in 1949 in Wheaton. She was active at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead since 1956, involved in the Lutheran Women’s League, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She was also an associate member of Christ Greenfield in Arizona.
Enid was preceded in death by her husband, LeNoel Lichtsinn on November 9, 2021; her parents, John and Edna Zitzow; and brothers Ken (Katie) Zitzow and Duane (Lois) Zitzow. She is survived by her children, James (Mary) Lichtsinn of Moorhead, MN and Jodie (Bruce) Morgan of Fargo, ND. Two grandchildren also survive her, John (Hannah) Lichtsinn of Mendota Heights, MN and Andrea Lichtsinn of West St. Paul, MN and 2 great-grandchildren, Linnea and Kai Lichtsinn.
Enid died surrounded by family at the age of 87 on July 26, 2022 in Essentia Hospital, Fargo. Her family is deeply grateful to the staff of Eventide Senior Living and Ethos Homecare for their loving care.
