Emil Johnson

Emil Johnson, 94, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, September 25, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Emil T. Johnson was born March 26, 1915, in Lake Park, Minnesota, son of Peter and Hilma (Johnson) Johnson. Emil married Inga Morkin April 8, 1937. He worked at the Union stockyards for 41 years, working his way up from janitor to supervisor. Emil was an avid fisherman. He was a loving grandpa to many children, not just his own, sharing his love of hunting, fishing, and a good joke or two with all of them. Emil is survived by his wife, Inga, Fargo, ND; his daughter, Judy (Michael) Curry, Lake Forest, CA; his brother, Alfred Johnson, Detroit Lakes, MN; four grandchildren, Jason Kneitel, Kira Ballinger, Erin and Chelsea Curry; and three great-grandchildren, Brody, Ronin and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings. Memorial Service: Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 10:00 AM, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, October 2, 2009, from 6-8 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Friday, October 2, 2009, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
