Elsie Mae Peterson, 94, died Monday, June 27, 2022, at the Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, ND.
Elsie Mae Larson was born in Aneta, ND, on January 26, 1928, to John and Bessie (Bjorneraa) Larson.
Elsie graduated from Aneta High School in 1946. Her work career included time at Northwestern Bell in Fargo, New Home Sewing Company in Rockford, IL, Sorenson Plumbing of Fargo, and later at Welu Dental Lab of Fargo in the billing department for 30 years before retiring. Following “retirement,” Elsie also worked at Olivet Lutheran Church as a part-time office assistant.
Elsie had two children, James and Sharon, from a marriage to Leo Kelly. Elsie later married Kenny Mickelson, and Melody Kay was added to the family. Following Kenny’s passing, Elsie was married to Palmer (Pete) W Peterson, and they enjoyed 34 years together.
Elsie was a member of the Fargo Moose Auxiliary and earned the honor of Star Recorder. She also enjoyed volunteering with Pete delivering Meals on Wheels for several years, and she participated in the quilting group at Olivet.
Elsie’s hobbies included bowling, playing cards with her friends and Pete, crocheting, reading, working in her vegetable garden, and canning. She loved animals and had several cats and dogs, of which there are several good stories. Elsie especially loved her family and spending time with them. Elsie had a kind heart, beautiful smile, and a great sense of humor.
Elsie is survived by her children; James Alan (Doreen) Mickelson, Sharon Lee Wigren, Melody Kay (Kevin) Greve; Step Children; Maureen (Mickelson) Sharpe, Kathy Mickelson, Kenny (Kathy) Mickelson, Rob Mickelson (Ivy); Sandy (Peterson) Clinton, and Gary Peterson; Grandchildren: Colin, Holly (Fiance, Brian Tollefson), and Daniel Greve; Matthew, Tyler (Fiance Karyssa Hovelson) and Korey Mickelson plus 14 step-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Elsie’s family thanks all of the wonderful nursing staff at the Sanford Hospice House on North Broadway. We could not have asked for a better team of Nurses, LPN’s, and CNA’s for the excellent care they provided. We are so grateful to the Hospice House staff for their compassion and loving care. Thank you all for taking care of Elsie for the past 11 months.
