Eloise Gangnes transitioned into loving spirit on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Eventide Senior Living Communities in Moorhead, at the age of 86. She left her body peacefully, in her sleep, and without pain. She was at peace with her upcoming transition, and was so looking forward to seeing her Lord Jesus. Eloise was born Eloise Lenore Davis in the Roaring Twenties, on January 12, 1923. She grew up in Fargo with four siblings. Eloise got great joy from ice skating and roller skating as a young girl and young adult. As a young woman, Eloise was driving to a roller rink with her best friend, Margie, which they did almost every night. When they drove by, looking for a parking place, she saw a handsome man she did not yet know, standing outside of the rink. She told her friend, “I’m going to marry him!” She married Norman Gangnes on August 24, 1946. Norm and Eloise raised two sons, David and Gary. Eloise developed a fascination for natural foods and nutrition in the 1950s, which she studied for the rest of her life. She spent many years working with Shaklee products. Eloise was a woman of very strong faith, which never waned during her many physical challenges over the last two years. Her last few days were very joyous for her, sharing love with family and friends. She is survived by her sister Marlys Moll, her brothers John Davis and Bradley Davis, son Gary Gangnes, grandsons Bronwyn Perkins-Gangnes and Ryen Perkins-Gangnes, daughter-in-law Emily Perkins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norm, her son David, her sister LaVerne, and her daughter-in-law, Jacalyn. If you would care to make a donation in her honor, she would like that it be given to the Salvation Army. A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2009, at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 906 1st Avenue South, Fargo, with Pastor Chuck Belzer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
