E. N. “Swede” Severson, 73, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND. Ellsworth Noel Severson was born September 23, 1933, at Mayville, North Dakota, son of Edwin and Elsie (Rudebek) Severson. Swede grew up on the family farm near Whitman, North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After his discharge, he returned to Fargo and graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Agriculture Economics. Swede married Marilyn Kisser December 27, 1959, in Fargo. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an Ag Statistician. They moved to Helena, Montana, and then on to Palmer, Alaska, where they lived and worked for six years. From Alaska, they moved to Washington D.C., for two and a half years and then to Sacramento, California for 13 years. They returned to Fargo in 1992. After retiring, Swede drove school bus in Moorhead, Minnesota, for Richard’s Transportation Co., for ten years. Swede is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Fargo, ND; two brothers, Arne (Betty) Severson, Thief River Falls, MN; and Harold (Phyllis) Severson, Denver, CO; two sisters, Nora (Dale) Bakkum, Mayville, ND; and Edith Anderson, Cummings, ND; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Severson; and a sister, Audrey Brodahl. Funeral Service: Monday, January 8, 2007, at 10:30 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Sunday, January 7, 2007, from 3-4 PM, at the First Lutheran Chapel, with a Prayer Service at 4 PM, in the Chapel. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
