Elizabeth F. Stafne died peacefully with her family at her side on May 11, 2007 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, North Dakota, at age 97. Elizabeth Dudley Farnham was born on September 27, 1909 in Fargo to Philip W. and Sarah E. Farnham. She attended Fargo schools and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1927. She then attended the University of Minnesota and North Dakota Agricultural College. On October 7, 1939, she married Dr. William A. Stafne, one of the early physicians at the Fargo Clinic. They lived in Fargo until 1968 when they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in the winter. In the summers, they lived at their home on Big Cormorant Lake. They moved back to Fargo and lived at Riverview Place in 1991. Her husband died in 1994 in Fargo ND. She lived at The Evergreens in Fargo the last few years. Elizabeth was a long-time member of Gethsemane Cathedral in Fargo and a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Kappa Kappa Gamma. Her great love was her summers spent at her lake home on Big Cormorant Lake with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, the wildlife and the sheer beauty of the place. She was a wonderful cook and loved nothing better than a good book. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne Meyer (husband, J. Rodney), Winston-Salem NC; her son, Philip D. Stafne, Fargo ND; and granddaughter, Alyson D. Bravo (husband, Leonardo), Los Angeles CA. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, J. Dudley Farnham.
