Elizabeth Ann Ostby

Elizabeth Ann Ostby (Swanston) 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 26, 2016.

She was born on May 17, 1932 to William Milton and Kathleen Clare (Doyle) and she grew up in Fargo. She graduated from Fargo Central High School, attended Dakota Business College and MSUM. “Lizzy” was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her favorite pastimes were reading, ceramics, bingo and coloring fuzzy posters. She loved watching the old musicals on TV and cherished her nights with her mother watching Lawrence Welk and reminiscing about old times. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved giving people gifts that she handcrafted. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day and she loved singing Irish tunes. She was a parishioner at St Anthony’s /St Mary’s of Fargo and she was united in marriage to Henry Ostby on August 2, 1994.

She is survived by her children: Paul Strand (Shirley), Pat Strand (Patty), Pete Strand; sisters, Mary Kay Carlson (Don) Gronbeck and Maggie (Bill) Brown; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; parents; brothers, Bill Swanston Jr. and Joseph.
