Eleanor Ruth (Haugen) Bjelkevig went home to be with the Lord, Friday November 23, 2012 in Fargo, North Dakota.
Eleanor was born February 22, 1932 in Williston, North Dakota to Oscar J. and Johanna Haugen. She was born and raised in Williston and graduated from Williston High School with the class of 1950. She later went on to graduate with an associate degree in the early years of Williston State College. Eleanor worked as the Executive Director of the Williston Housing Authority for a number of years and was instrumental in its expansion to provide housing for low income families. She attended Lutheran Brethren Fellowship Church of Williston and was involved in teaching Sunday school and other areas of woman’s ministries. She enjoyed playing piano & singing with Entertainment Inc. and other church choirs throughout her life. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren who she was so proud of.
Eleanor is survived by her four children, Forrest (Susan) of Vancouver, Washington, Warren (Christine) of Elgin, Texas, Debby (Doug) Dixon of Bismarck and Jane (Conrad) Holien of Fargo, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother, Wesley of West Jordan, Utah, and sister, Margaret Haugen of Anoka, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lee, Erling, and Oscar Haugen.
A private family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
