Eleanor I. Benson, 93, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND. Eleanor Irene Cunningham was born November 24, 1916, in Mina, South Dakota, daughter of Harry and Clara (Gregson) Cunningham. She attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Eleanor spent her working life serving as a registered nurse in many places in the country, lastly, in Watertown, South Dakota at St. Ann’s Hospital. Eleanor married Richard Benson October 17, 1942, in Denver, Colorado. She was an avid bowler and loved the Minnesota Twins, Wheel of Fortune and word find puzzles. She was also able to experience the blessings of a five generation family. Eleanor is survived by Toni (Ron) Lee; grandchildren, Jeremy (Megan) Lee; Kim (Brent) Hass; great-grandchildren, Jory, Samantha, Jenna and Michael Hass; Alexander and Sienna Lee; Erin Iverson; Lee Gullickson; and great-great-grandaughter, Bridgette Hass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Susan; grandchildren, Krystal Whitson and Jason Lee; seven brothers and two sisters. Memorial Service: Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at Elim Care Center Chapel, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the chapel. There will also be a Memorial Service to take place at a later date in Watertown, SD, with inurnment at Mina Cemetery, Mina, South Dakota.
